Non-responsive CTRL+ALT+DEL logon screen

Hi everyone,

I work for a local university's IT help desk. Last semester, one of our faculty members experienced an issue with her Lenovo All-in-one wherein the CTRL ALT DEL logon screen was unresponsive.

The mouse could move, but could not click the accessibility options, and pressing CTRL ALT DEL yielded nothing.

I swapped keyboards, no change.

The only way to get past this was to do multiple hard boots.

Virus scans revealed nothing; I swapped out the hard drive and re-imaged it as a last resort, but that didn't fix it either.

We eventually solved the issue by giving her a new machine.

I got a call this semester that the same user was experiencing the same issue (again, CTRL ALT DEL logon screen non-responsive; mouse can move but cannot click accessibility icon) but the kicker is that she has a different, newer model Lenovo All-in-one, and she is the only user to experience this issue.

These computers are connected to a domain, and are re-imaged once we receive them from Lenovo. I do not think this is driver-related, given she's  had essentially 3 separate computers with the same issue.

Any ideas?
