This is long so bear with me because I want to provide as much information as possible to avoid irrelevant responses. Virtual PC will be referred to as VPC.
I installed VPC and then set up a windows 98SE OS within the VPC. Added Plus, had networking and everything working just fine. I was even able to connect to the internet with expected compatibility issues but it worked. Then I started getting nagscreens telling
me that I didnt have the *plugins* or updates for VPC so I went to find them. All I was able to find was a newer version. I downloaded and started to install it when it told me I needed to uninstall the older version. So I did. When I installed the newer version,
it didnt work right. It opened to a folder view for me to look for a new machine instead of the VPC panel where I could connect my existing VPD HD. So I uninstalled it and went to reinstall the original. During installation, it said that VPC was already installed.
I checked and it was not. So I checked for stray folder that may not have been installed and there I find in Programsx86, VPC folder. I try to delete it and TrustedInstaller wont let me deleted. I wrested control from TI and deleted it, checked the registry
for remaining remnants of VPC and there weren't any. I try to install again. And now after installing it's telling me it's not compatible with my machine... WHAT?!?
I am the OEM. I have a full version of Windows 7 pro 64bit.
So after days of searching and days of frustration over VPC and TI, you can see where Im at wits end.
Another actoin of note is that I took ownership of the C drive in order to wrest control from Trusted installer and once I was able to move TI into a new folder, I was able to change the permissions on the VPC folder to delete it.
The only solution I can conceive of being useful at this point would be to do a complete reinstall and I really dont want to go there.... yet.
