I have recently built a new system with a gigabyte MOBO and 970 chipset, an FX 4100 processor, windows 7 x64 Pro and I have done the trial patch to be sure my system can run the software, then downloaded virtual machine and XP mode, just as instructed
by microsoft, and then I go into set up XP mode for first use and after going 99% of the way, it tells me it cannot be completed, try later. The hotfix referred to by the microsoft rep is for a business system called OPK. I cannot get this file
to install on my system. When I tried to install it, windows would not start up so I had to remove it. The hotfix in question can't be used unless this OPK software is installed. And I see in this thread that this problem has been going on for
over a year now for some other users. And I am going to venture to guess that the reason Microsoft hasn't come up with an update to fix this issue is because they don't care about an AMD processor being compatible with their software. Not sure what the answer
is, but it seems to me that they are in no rush whatsoever to do anything about it. So I am looking into using another, non microsoft OS.
