Hi
I'm running windows 7 pro 32 bit, with a windows XP virtual machine for developing legacy software. Both have logons with the same name and password.
Both host & VM connect to a file server on the network. The file server is running windows XP, the network is a simple workgroup. I have manually created a restricted user on the file server with the same name and password as my windows 7 and VM logons.
Today I changed my windows 7 logon password, which I don't do as often as security people recommend I do. I changed the password on the file server to keep in sync, and also the password on the VM.
Windows 7 is however somewhere retaining the old password to log into the virtual machine with, which fails, and I get the logon screen. If I enter the new password it then logs on. I went into the VPC settings and deleted the saved credentials, with no
effect. I took off 'enable at startup' from Integration features, also no effect.
So, I can revert the password in the VPC, but then I have to enter the password to access the network share. Or I can enter the password every time I start the VM. The second is less painful, but still annoying. Or I can go back to the old password and never
change it again.
Any thoughts?
