I have a 3 month old HP laptop with an AMD Quad Core CPU at 2 GZ speed and 6 GBs RAM. The BIOS supports Virtualization Technology, and it is enabled. The machine's host OS is Windows
7 Pro, 64 bit.
I downloaded Windows Virtual PC 2007 and have Windows XP Mode installed. Initially, I gave the guest OS 2 GBs of Virtual Memory; however, XP Mode ran slow, so I increased the guest OS memory to 3 GBs. That made a real improvement. Also, I keep both the physical and virtual hard disks defragmented to a low percentage.
I would still like to improve XP Mode's performance. Is there a way to assign more CPU power to Windows Virtual PC? Is there anything else I can do to speed up the Virtual PC Mode?
