Virtual XP mode not recognising DVD in DVD drive

Hi,

I have a brand new workstation running Win7 pro 64 bit. As some of our legacy software and hardware is not compatible we installled XP mode.

Got it working after some teething troubles with integration features constantly trying and failing to enable, but all are enabled now. OUr IT guy is slowy sorting out the networking niggles as it will show the network drives when HE is logged in, but not for me.

That is not my question, however, as he's almost got that fixed.

The problem, on my Win 7 PC the HP recovery drive is mapped to D, my data hard drive is mapped to E and our network drives fill most of the rest of the alphabet. My DVD drive is z. In virtual XP, the dvd drive is mapped to D.

I used the settings and told it to point to the real drive z but this has failed. XP cannot read a dvd in the drive and says to put a disc in. I tried remapping the XP dvd drive to Z but then it reported that it was corrupted.

Can someone explain how to persuade XP to read the dvd drive please? It's going to be a bit hard to install the legacy programs without it.

I wil point our IT guy to this post, so if it is complicated, hopefully he will know what you are talking about.

Thank you.
